Volunteers

To build this garden takes many hands. The hands that have helped include:

Waterford High School Art Students, National Art Honor Society, and other volunteers – Created mosaics for the labyrinth
Nathan Hale Arts Magnet School Students – Created mosaics for the amphitheater
Ella T. Grasso Technical High School Students – Helped build the waterfall and installed many of the plants in the pollinator garden and meadow
The Boy Scouts – Created Scout the Berm-Whale and helped build up the labyrinth base
Gwen Basilica – Mosaic and Stained Glass Artist helped 4th and 5th grade students at NHAMS create the mosaics in the amphitheater
Jeffrey Wolfson – Art teacher at NHAMS worked with the 4th and 5th grade students teaching them the art of mosaic in his Art Everywhere class
Shelly Concascia -Waterford High School Art teacher taught and worked with students to create the mosaics in the labyrinth
UConn Students – Removed sod and dug out the pathways
Dual Language & Arts Magnet Middle School – Translated children’s book into Spanish and created a coloring book for public outreach purposes
Coast Guard Academy – Dug, raked and added base materials to the pathways
Pfizer employees – Planted native grasses, helped with pavers and digging in stepping stones for the waterfall
Naval Submarine Base New London- Moved concrete uphill to fill the claws/legs of labyrinth, moved stone, sand, dirt, secured the sailboat, etc.
Waterford High School Transitional Students – Prepared the sandpit and removed sod from paths
Waterford High School carpentry students – Created benches for the garden
Robert E. Fitch High School Manufacturing Class – Created a bench for the garden
BrandTech Scientific Inc. – Volunteering with mosaics, planting and preparing garden spaces
Steve Colgan – Master Gardner and moss expert is building a moss/shade/fairy garden with stone steps and natural cedar split rail fence
Friends and family – so many of Mary’s and my amazing friends and family have helped time and again with preparing the base and edging the labyrinth pathways, amphitheater, etc.
